Vaughan Williams's much-loved work in a rarely heard vocal arrangement by Paul Drayton

This October marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ralph Vaughan Williams, and to launch a month celebrating his extraordinary contribution to musical life, we're delighted to exclusively bring you this beautiful performance of The Lark Ascending, in an arrangement by Paul Drayton which weaves in the words of the 1881 poem by George Meredith that had inspired the work. Violinist Jack Liebeck and the choral ensemble VOCES8 recorded the work at the VOCES8 Centre in the City of London.

A new recording of the work will be released as a single on October 7, then the following week, October 15, sees a special edition of the LIVE from London concert series, from All Hallow's Gospel Oak, featuring VOCES8 and friends in a further adaptation of The Lark Ascending for violin, choir and orchestra, plus a new work from Grammy Award-winning composer Christopher Tin, The Lost Birds.
